It's not even so much the time that has passed between them--it's the hole that so much grieving has left, like an wound that was never quite allowed to heal. Still, this time together is a gift. It's why, after a few moments of walking in silence after a fair bit of small talk over dinner, Keyleth pointedly reaches for Vax's hand. It had felt strange to take it before without prompting, but it feels worse to not have his hand in hers.
She wants this. Her fingers squeeze his as she gives him a small smile.
He's back. He's not going anywhere.
But it's a hard feeling to shake, she's realized.]
It's nice out, isn't it?
[A little cool, but not cold. The stars are mostly what illuminate the little garden courtyard below Keyleth's balcony, and the path they're on winds aimlessly around flowerbeds and trees.]
